Switcher: a Flip3D replacement
Perhaps you aren’t too dazzled by the new Aero interface, but there are a few gems of underlying technology that make it possible to do more with your computer amongst the many annoyances in Vista.
- Vista’s most ballyhooed feature, Flip 3D, distorts all open windows into a confusing 3D environment. A much better replacement is Switcher, which offers not only a smooth Expose-like experience, but incremental search and grid, tile, and dock reviews.
- The Explorer in Vista has also been radically redesigned; power-users or those simply looking to match XP’s look and feel - as well as reponsiveness- should seek alternatives such as the previously mentioned xplorer2.
- Lastly, if Aero is too boring, check out VistaGlazz, an automated patcher which allows users to apply custom visual styles. Many excellent visual styles can be found on DeviantArt, free of charge.
